  32. Please dont give us DD floppys. They are absolutly useless. Cant read
  33. MAC data (ShapeShifter). Virtually all PC floppys are HD thus cant
  34. transfer PC data.

  36. A more sensiable option be to provide a ext/int floppy port and let
  37. users who WANT floppy to source them. I know that powercomputing HD
  38. floppys are not relaible but people who want them and buy such
  39. devices. People who are happy with DD drives (games etc) can buy 3rd
  40. party DD drives (int or ext). That way you are not belittling the
  41. machine in the eyes of the world by providing a substandard standard
  42. device. Let the buyer chose. Just dont include it...
  43. I dont have a floppy drive in my SGI and I dont complain...

  45. Instead it may be more worthwhile to include 3.5" harddisk in every
  46. machine with the OS pre installed...
  47. Better Still, botable CD-ROM drives with WB on CD. From that CD also
  48. have the installation tools so that WB could be installed onto
  49. Harddisks for people that have them.

  59. While I have your attention I would like to address a few points.
  60.  
  61. 1)
  62. A1400 (and dont call it A1300 or A1200+) should be in a pizza box. No
  63. trap door but have the CPU on a daughter board (allowing easy upgrade
  64. even to PPC). MC68030 at 28 or 33 Mhz. AGA is fine (Its only an
  65. intermediate/beginners machine). Bootable CD-ROM drive. Space
  66. internally for 3.5" HD. Proper detached keyboard (small A4000 type
  67. connector). Simm Sockets on the mother board. 2xPCMCIA-II at real
  68. (allowing people to add Modem, SCSI or Ethernet easily). One or Two
  69. Zorro/Video Slots (if costs allow but not a pre-requisits as we would
  70. have two PCMCIA). {Zorro should be phased out in favour of PCI for the
  71. PCC platforms). 2Mb Chip RAM. 2Mb Fast RAM. Connectors at back: Video,
  72. Par, Ser, Mouse, Joystick, Floppy, 2x PCMCIA, Keyboard, Left & Right
  73. Audio out. Mono Audio In (it is a Multimedia Machine). Initally sell
  74. bundled with monitor.

  77. A4200. Keep the old A4000. We need a machine thats a desktop. Replace
  78. IDE with SCSI. Throw in a S3 or other based Graphics chipset on the
  79. mother board. Again CD ROM as primary drive and not floppy.

  82. A4000T. Yes we need a high end machine. Again drop the Floppy and put
  83. in the CD-ROM. Drop the IDE interface. It will clean up the ROM and
  84. make space for improvements.
